Naturpark Diemtigtal

Regional nature park since 2012

Wild landscapes, adventurous discoveries: Diemtigtal Nature Park offers unique nature experiences right on the doorstep. The terms simplicity and authenticity are redefined: An honest way of life and profound experiences are in the foreground - also for our guests. Where does your next trip to the Diemtigtal lead to?

Close, wild, valuable

Located between the Niesen and Turnen ranges lies the 19 km long Diemtigtal valley. The park extends over the municipality of Diemtigen and a small part of Zweisimmen (Lake Seeberg). Its natural gate at the entrance of the valley, together with the distinctive end of the valley and the characteristic pre-alpine landscape make Diemtigtal the epitome of what one would expect from a nature park.

Alpine agriculture

As a vibrant, traditional form of culture and economy, alpine farming is held in high esteem here. Around 140 alpine farms put about 10'000 cows, oxen, sheep and goats out onto their summer pastures. Alpine cheese is produced on more than 60 Alps. The results of this close-to-nature farming are a great diversity of species and vast, well-tended cultural landscapes.

Lived traditions, culture

With its traditional villages made of scattered houses, the Diemtigtal offers an abundance of carefully maintained and lively architecture. In recognition of this, the Swiss Heritage Society awarded the municipality of Diemtigtal the Henri-Louis-Wakker prize in 1986. Even today, traditions are actively practised and celebrated.

Varied leisure activities

With its cultural treasures and sometimes wild nature, the Diemtigtal is ideal for active excursions: hiking trails lead along waterways to remote mountain pastures. Theme trails and guided excursions reveal the secrets of nature. The Grimmimutz invites families to play and children can discover the precious water at the Gwunderwasser water playground.

«Nah, wild, wertvoll.»
