Naturpark Diemtigtal - There are many valley walks, but Diemtigtal one from Oey to Schwenden is unique and deserves the highest award. The path follows the Filderich and Chirel valley streams and takes you through forests and meadows.
The pleasant coolness of the woods alternates with meadows filled with flowers when you walk along the bubbling mountain streams, which are crossed by eleven bridges. Along the route you can read about legends and historical events which took place in the valley.
The path is about 15 kilometres long and there is hardly a kilometre of hard surface. The four-and-a-half-hour hike can be individually organised by using the 11 available bus stops. The character of the valley entrance after Oey changed in 2005 following flooding and it is now an open stream bed landscape. In Grund a small hurdle goes over the «Spitzefluh», under which a tunnel has recently been built. The path then gets easier towards Horboden. The trial crosses the covered bridge and tackles the ascent over Cholleren.
The path continues through forests and meadows without any further ascents to Schwenden. There are numerous benches and grill sites along the way.
From Oey, follow the signpost Talweg (Valley Trail) Schwenden. Oey-Grund-Horboden-Riedli-Zwischenflueh-Anger-Schwenden-Grimmialp.
