On the 8km long vineyard trail from Sierre to Salgesch, you will walk along vineyards, past wine-growers' quarters and stroll through the wild natural landscape of the Raspille gorge. The 80 informational signs placed along the side of the trail tell about life in the vineyards, about the landscape and its inhabitants.
The vineyard trail connects the Valais Wine and Wine-Growing Museum located in Sierre and Salgesch. The museums describe the long history between wine, tradition and passion. A tasting session of the exquisite wines is extremely rewarding, too.
Start at Sierre railway station. Follow the local map towards the hospital. The Château Villa lies behind the hospital. From there the trail to the wine museum in Salgesch is signposted. The hike is also possible in the opposite direction.
In September always the vine hike takes place!
The Vine and Wine Museum, Sierre - Salgesch is devoted to viticulture. The 2 exhibitions in the Zumofenhaus and the Château Villa deal with differnt topics, but they are linked with a 6-km long nature trail and as such also form one entity.
The Château de Villa is an old patrician house form the 17th century It houses a wine cellar and a speciality restaurant. Enjoy the traditional terroir dishes and discover over 650 wines from different vineyards in Valais
