Naturpark Pfyn-Finges - Up until the 1960s, the Kastleren area (40 ha) was used for agriculture. After that, the area was uncultived and in danger of becoming overgrown. The spring Adonis rose, as well as various grasshopper and butterfly species threatened to disappear.

The Adonis rose belongs to the buttercup family. The spring Adonis rose has bright yellow flowers; it grows as an annual, herbaceous and perennial plant. The Adonis rose is unique and flowers in Switzerland only in the regions of Turtmann and Saxon; flowering from mid-April to mid-May. The flower is strictly protected and depends on open dry meadows. Thanks to an enhancement project, the landscape has been opened up and de-bushed and offers ideal conditions for diverse fauna and flora.

The enhancement project was implemented in the Kastleren cultural landscape from 2010 to 2016.
