Wissemme trail from Escholzmatt to Schüpfheim

UNESCO Biosphäre Entlebuch - Comfortable family hike on the idyllic trail along the Wissemme.

The family-friendly hike starts at Escholzmatt train station. Shortly after the railway crossing, the trail turns left and leads after a short climb to the Bühlwald. Here a first rest is worthwhile. The spacious fire pit offers, in addition to two large outdoor tables, also two tables in a covered log cabin. The firewood is also covered, and the two grills leave nothing to be desired. While the children can play on the lawn or in the forest, the adults can enjoy the view of the local mountain Beichle.

After the rest, the trail first goes uphill through the Bühlwald and then gently downhill towards Schüpfheim. From the Lehn area, the gravel trail runs along the Wissemme until it flows into the Waldemme shortly before Schüpfheim. Shortly before the end of the hike at Schüpfheim train station, the "Sagewäldli" invites you to linger. The spacious playground makes all children’s eyes shine, and adults can also spend time on the outdoor fitness equipment or enjoy the cozy company at the many tables and benches. Often one can also observe the playful squirrels here, swinging from tree to tree in search of food.
