Wissemme trail from Escholzmatt to Schüpfheim

Leisurely family hike on the idyllic hiking trail along the Wissemme.

This family-friendly hike starts at Escholzmatt railroad station. Shortly after the level crossing, the hiking trail branches off to the left and leads to Bühlwald forest after a short ascent. It is worth taking a first break here. In addition to two large outdoor tables, the spacious fireplace also has two tables in a covered log cabin. The firewood is also covered and the two barbecues leave nothing to be desired. While the children play on the lawn or in the forest, the adults can enjoy the view of the local mountain Beichle.

After the rest, the hiking trail first leads uphill through the Bühlwald forest and then slightly downhill towards Schüpfheim. From the Lehn area, the gravel hiking trail runs alongside the Wissemme until it flows into the Waldemme shortly before Schüpfheim. Shortly before the end of the hike at Schüpfheim railroad station, the "Sagewäldli" invites you to linger. The spacious playground makes children's eyes light up and adults can also pass the time on the outdoor fitness equipment or at the many tables and benches. You can often watch the funny squirrels here as they swing from tree to tree in search of food.
