An immersive experience in the natural paradise of Halsesee

Landschaftspark Binntal - From Brunnebiel we hike to the natural jewel Halsesee and back to Fäld. On the way we taste the gold medal cheese of the Binneralp, visit the remains of a historic lime kiln and explore a moor with a ten-thousand-year history.

Our destination is the idyllic Halsesee, a special jewel in the rear Binntal. It is part of the Albrun mire landscape of national importance. At Brunnebiel (Bus Alpin stop) we taste alpine products, including the gold medal-winning Binneralp cheese, and learn exciting stories about the importance of alpine farming.
We follow the historic path towards Albrun until we come across a striking white rock: dolomite marble. This was also used to make lime mortar for building houses in the Binntal.
After a short ascent through a high shrubland, we reach the Halsesee, about two-thirds of which is muddy. A borehole showed that the lowest layers of the bog are about ten thousand years old, formed shortly after the last ice age. From here, the geological structure of the Binn Valley is also clearly visible.
Finall, it's downhill to Fäld, where we board the bus to Binn.
