10 Belpberg Gürbe Gravel Loop: Belp - Wattenwil - Belp

Bicycle tour
Time required: 3 hours 20 minutesLength: 45.32 km

Naturpark Gantrisch -

The gravel round tour leads from Belp via a crisp ascent on forest paths to the Chutzen viewpoint. Then it's via Gerzensee to Wattenwil and a flat ride back along the Gürbe. The route runs on side roads and largely on forest, gravel and field paths, and is quite bumpy and dusty in places. The view of the Bernese Alps and the foothills of the Alps as well as the opportunities to cool off along the Gürbe complete the gravel fun.

From Belp, the route climbs along forest paths to the Chutzen viewpoint at 882 m above sea level. The panoramic view of the Bernese 4000-metre peaks, the foothills of the Alps, the Emmental and the Bernese Mittelland make up for this first effort. After a rapid descent, you follow the Gerzensee via Kirchdorf to Noflen on side roads. A short descent through the forest and a dusty gravel section on the valley floor along the Müsche river leads to the village of Seftigen. Follow the main road through the underpass until after the Tamoil petrol station, then turn right over the level crossing past the church center and right again in the direction of Gurzelen. A short gravel section follows to the small village of Gurzelen, where the route leads past the church on a side road towards Wattenwil. After a refreshment stop at one of the local inns, follow the official cycle route 74 for around 3 kilometers, then follow the Gürbe consistently from Mühlethurnen southwards on a bumpy dirt track until the path ends. Now cross the bridge and the main road and follow the gravel path to Lohnstorf Brügg. Here, as well as 5 minutes later at the Gürbebadi in Mühlethurnen, you have the opportunity to cool off in the fresh water of the tamed mountain stream. A long final spurt through the Gürbetal valley floor over dusty and sometimes bumpy gravel and field paths leads via Kaufdorf and Toffen back to the starting point at Belp railroad station.
