The trail is a leisurely stroll that can be extended as desired. It's possible to start in Ernen or extend all the way to Blitzingen or even further on. This main section first passes through the village of Mühlebach. From there, a hiking trail can be taken below the road, with short stretches on the lightly trafficked road. Upon reaching Steinhaus, it's worth taking a look at the local chapel. Then, crossing a bridge that is installed in spring and dismantled in autumn, the path continues on a beautiful forest and field path to Niederwald.
In Niederwald, there is the option to take the Matterhorn Gotthard train station back to Fürgangen. From there, simply cross the suspension bridge to return to the starting point in Mühlebach.
