Etang des Royes
The Etang des Royes is the baby brother of the Etang de la Gruère and is visited less often. It is embedded in green and more remote, but has a great deal of charm and offers unique tranquillity.
All season
Parc du Doubs - 12 km circular hiking trail between Saignelégier and Etang de La Gruère via the Etang des Royes. The hike takes in the typical landscape of the Freiberg region: wooded pastures, pine forests and mysterious moorland.
Points of interest along the route:
1. Plateau of Franches-Montagnes
2. Etang des Royes
3. Etang de la Gruère.
It is also possible to do just part of the walk: from Saignelégier to the Etang des Royes or from the bus stop at Les Cerlatez to the Etang de La Gruère.
There are bus stops in Saignelégier, Les Cerlatez and Moulin (mill) de La Gruère.
An simple trail with little height difference (about 100 m of ascent and 100 m descent).
The Etang des Royes is the baby brother of the Etang de la Gruère and is visited less often. It is embedded in green and more remote, but has a great deal of charm and offers unique tranquillity.
The walk round the Etang de la Gruère is easily accessible for young and old. A beautifully laid-out trail (wood shavings and board walks) reveals new and wonderful views at every step around this fantastic moorland lake.
Close to the nature reserve « l’Etang de la Gruère », Les Cerlatez Nature Centre has the objective to raise awareness on environmental issues. Located in the heart of the Franches-Montagnes, it offers an array of guided tours, exhibitions and hikes.
Just a stone's throw from the Etang de la Gruère, Yann Studer and his team are inspired by the calm of the place to offer creative and seasonal cuisine on the shaded terrace as well as in the nicely wooded room.
