Regionaler Naturpark Schaffhausen - A massive dieback of spruce trees caused by the bark beetle has consequences for many decades. We are actively addressing the issue. We are looking for and experiencing the great beacons of hope in this system.

The forest is a fascinating universe. Where once the focus was on economic benefits, the ecological significance is increasing. Major damage to the forest ecosystem is already recognisable. A massive dieback of spruce trees caused by the bark beetle will have consequences for many decades to come. We are actively addressing the issue and recognising the connections. We look for and experience the great beacons of hope in this system.

On this excursion we will shed light on the fascinating connections between forests and bark beetles. We will be looking at the topic in a limited area. We will explore and actively participate:

- The life cycle of the bark beetle.
- How can such small beetles cause a mighty tree to die in a short space of time?
- How should we react to the stock of dead wood?
- Which trees have the potential to survive when the climate changes?
- 3 strategies - 3 developments - 3 solutions? An exciting experiment to marvel at the dynamics and power of the forest.
