Gürbe Wild Water Path (SchweizMobil 382)
Naturpark Gantrisch - The hike follows the adventurous route in the wild Gürbegraben gorge all the way to Wattenwil. Along the way, there are over a hundred barriers made of wood and concrete that slow the force of the Gürbe wild stream.
The hike starts at the Gurnigel mountain lodge. This place alone is a highlight! In good weather, the view opens up to the Bernese Alps, Lake Thun, and the nearby Gantrisch range. A short rest on the lodge terrace is worthwhile before beginning the hike.
At the start, the path leads over alpine roads and pastures down to the entrance to the gorge of the wild stream. From here, the path becomes more challenging, but stairs help with the descent into the stream gorge. During floods and approaching thunderstorms, this part of the route should be avoided.
At the junction of the Schwandbach gorge, we encounter the first of over a hundred barriers that slow the course of the wild stream, retain sediment, and prevent excessive erosion. Once the side streams and landslides are crossed, the path broadens again in the Weierboden. From here, the somewhat flatter part of the hike begins. Sheltered by the reinforcements and along the river course, there are now pretty spots for swimming, barbecuing, or relaxing.
The path to Wattenwil runs over wide walking paths on the Gürbe dam. Upon arriving in the village, the journey home can be taken again by post bus.
