Fricktal High Route (5): Sennhütten - Mettau
Jurapark Aargau - The Fricktal High Route - 60 well-marked hiking kilometers that enchant in every season!
Along the Fricktal High Route, you experience the Fricktal at its most beautiful. When cherry blossoms bloom and meadows shine yellow. When a thunderstorm approaches in the distance and the rest at the barbecue area or in the restaurant is so cozy that you wish to linger forever. Or when in autumn the colorful leaves cover the forest path and in the clear winter air the heights of the Fricktal, the Black Forest, and the Basel region rise white into the sky.
If you have not spent the night at Sennhütten, it is about a 45-minute walk from the Mönthal bus stop to the starting point.

Sennhütten - Cheisacher Observatory - Bürersteig - Laubberg - Mettau
The climb to Ampferenhöhe is rewarded with a cooling forest section and the view from the Cheisacher Tower. Look through the telescope and discover natural diversity. From the hamlet of Sennhütten, the path leads to Ampferenhöhe, to the observatory, and finally to the Cheisacher Tower, from whose viewing platform you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view.
Afterwards, the high route continues over the elongated ridge of the Cheisacher to the Bürersteig height pass (555 m). To the right around the Bürerhorn, you reach Laubberg (648 m). Finally, the path leads down into the charming Mettau Valley and to Mettau.
