Les Cerlatez Nature Centre

Visitor center
Season: All season

Parc du Doubs - The Les Cerlatez Nature Center is located near the Étang de la Gruère Nature Reserve in Saignelégier. It offers exhibits and activities related to its primary goal: raising environmental awareness and promoting environmental education.

The Les Cerlatez Nature Center offers a wide range of activities to raise awareness and educate the public about the environment, biodiversity, and sustainable development. Its two fun and interactive exhibits are open to the public from mid-March through the end of October. In 2026–2027, they will focus on the themes “Snails!” and “The Hidden World of Insects.” A gift shop offering regional products and nature-themed items is available to visitors.

The Nature Center participates in various events such as the Fête de la Nature and Museum Night. An end-of-season festival is held there annually in mid-October, featuring a variety of activities centered on its signature themes for the whole family: workshops, lectures, and more. Throughout the year, schools can book field trips or educational activities from a catalog of ten workshops offered by the Nature Center and the Doubs Park. Guided tours of the Gruère Pond are also available by reservation.

Finally, the Nature Center is responsible for maintaining the tourist infrastructure and enhancing the Gruère Pond site, under a mandate from the Canton of Jura, with the goal of best balancing public access with the protection of the environment of this natural gem. Each year, among other initiatives, it conducts an amphibian rescue operation during their migration.

Founded in 1993 by the Association of Naturalists of the Franches-Montagnes, the municipality of Saignelégier, Pro Natura Switzerland, and its Jura chapter, the Les Cerlatez Nature Center became part of the Doubs Park in 2020. The building that houses the center is managed by the Les Cerlatez Foundation, which includes the municipalities of Saignelégier and Tramelan, the Republic and Canton of Jura, and the Association of Naturalists of the Franches-Montagnes.
