LBB enhancement project

Naturpark Pfyn-Finges - In collaboration with a certified «Bio Suisse» farm, agricultural land below the village of Bratsch is being converted into a networked, organic farm to preserve the unique terraced landscape.

Initial situation

The terraced cultural landscape below Bratsch (VS) is a valuable ecological and cultural heritage site that is threatened by scrub encroachment and abandonment. In 2020, agriBratsch GmbH initiated an ecological enhancement project together with the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park. The outlined goals of the project include the preservation of the landscape, the promotion of biodiversity and adaptive, less intensive cultivation - all in close cooperation with local stakeholders.

Goal

The terraced cultural landscape near Bratsch (VS) is both ecologically valuable and threatened. Since 2020, agriBratsch GmbH has been working with the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park to ecologically enhance the area. The aim is to preserve the landscape, promote biodiversity and ensure less intensive cultivation. In 2020-2024, contaminated sites were cleaned and new habitats created. From 2025, the focus will be on a resource-conserving irrigation system.

The LBB project combines landscape conservation, population protection and biodiversity: it promotes the sustainable maintenance and enhancement of the cultural landscape, reduces fire risks through adapted use and improves biodiversity through ecological networking. With resource-conserving irrigation, regional production and short distances, it serves as a model for synergies and successful cooperation.
