In the village of Valendas, visitors are captivated by Europe’s largest wooden fountain as well as its historic and stately patrician buildings. A brochure guides you on a stroll through the village.In the Safiental valley, you will find traditional Walser houses built of wood. Not so in Valendas, however. There, stately stone buildings predominate, suggesting former prosperity.
Discover the history of the mountain village of Valendas on this village walk, which features a total of 14 stops. The route begins at the village square, home to Europe’s largest wooden fountain and its water nymph, which has served as the fountain’s spout since 1760. It’s well worth strolling through the village with the ‘Valendas Village Walk’ brochure, which is available locally. With its historic and stately patrician buildings, as well as its village layout of national significance, Valendas has a great deal to offer. In addition, the permanent exhibition in the stable of the historic Jooshuus provides information on the history and development of the mountain village.
