Parc naturel régional Jura vaudois - The Discovery Centre at the Jura Vaudois Regional Nature Park in Romainmôtier-Envy, also known as La Porterie, is a welcoming and interactive venue for visitors and pilgrims passing through this Cluniac village.
The Romainmôtier Discovery Centre features three themed areas dedicated to the Cluniac Abbey, the Nozon Valley and the Vaud Jura Regional Nature Park.
Here, visitors can learn about the area comprising all the municipalities within the Park, as well as the remit entrusted by the Swiss Confederation to the country’s regional nature parks. The Park’s projects and initiatives relating to the landscape, biodiversity, sustainable tourism, the promotion of local produce and the local economy, and education for sustainable development are showcased.
A shop sells local handicrafts, a selection of traditional products and books on spirituality.
Volunteers from the La Porterie association are on hand to answer questions and assist visitors, book tickets for a show or organise a guided tour.
Enjoy fabulous views, typical forests and wooded pastures along the Jura Crest trail. After the climb to the Mont Tendre (1679 m), the route leads down the Pied du Jura foothills through typical villages.
From Montricher, the trail continues along the foot of the Jura and its authentic villages offering beautiful views on the Alps. La Grande Traversée ends at Romainmôtier, a medieval town famous for its abbey.
Vom Gebirgspass Col du Mollendruz aus führt die Route über die typischen Wytweiden des Jurabogens bis zum Kluniazenserstädtchen Romainmôtier.
This scenic trail connects Vaulion to Croy, passing through Romainmôtier along the Nozon river. It features 12 stations explaining the role of water, while interactive modules and a treasure hunt delight children.
The landscapes of the Nozon valley, shaped by the forces of nature, have retained their wild and unspoilt beauty and their medieval character.
