Accessible Route to the Moated Castle
Jurapark Aargau - A route to the moated castle designed specifically for all-terrain wheelchairs.
The route starts in the center of town at the Brugg train station and first leads through Königsfelder Park down to the Aare River. Following the Aare, it continues past the Wasserschloss-Reisfeld to the Vogelsanger Bridge. Here you’ll find great views of the moated castle and the confluence of the Aare, Reuss, and Limmat rivers. The route then continues to the Turgi train station, where excellent train connections will take you back to the Brugg train station in 5 minutes.

The route starts right at the Mountain Drive rental station, the Centurion Tower Hotel in Windisch. Pass through the underpass at the other end of the square to continue into Königsfelder Park and follow a gravel path past the wildlife enclosure.
Passing under the railroad tracks, the route now descends a steeper section down to the Aare River and crosses to the other side via the Mülimatt footbridge.
Immediately after the bridge, turn right and follow the gravel path almost to the riverbank. The path now leads to the left along the Aare. A few minutes after passing the Pontonierhaus on your left, turn left onto the next path. At the next intersection, turn right and follow the path to the large gravel area with the tool sheds. Follow the road to the next bridge.
After the bridge, turn right and follow Militärstrasse through Auschachen, past the Wasserschloss rice field, and on to the parking lot at the Vogelsanger Bridge.
As you cross this third bridge, you’ll enjoy a great view of the Wasserschloss. Once you reach the other side, turn left onto Aarestrasse and then immediately left again onto the path back toward the Aare. Just before the riverbank, the path turns right, crosses Schachenstrasse, and turns right at the next fork.
You’ll now walk along the field away from the Aare and toward the Limmat. At the end of the field, turn left, then immediately right at the next fork. This brings you to the fourth bridge: the wooden footbridge to the Gipsmühle. On the other side, turn right and follow the path until it leads back onto a paved road. Here, turn slightly left and follow Limmatstrasse and the course of the Limmat until you reach the main road between Turgi and Vogelsang again.
Turn left and follow the main road until you’re under the railroad bridge; here, turn left onto Dammweg. Continue to the next cross street, then turn right onto Zelglistrasse. At the end of the street, turn left and follow Schulhausstrasse. At the end, turn right and follow Limmatstrasse to Turgi Village Park. Here, turn right again; Bahnhofstrasse will now lead you directly to the train station.
