Walk Lake Circuit Schwarzsee

Hiking trail
Time required: 1 hourLength: 4.12 km

Naturpark Gantrisch - A pleasant walk around Schwarzsee invites you to unwind and enjoy the wonderful mountain panorama as well as nature.

Mountains rise on the left and right, and in the middle lies Schwarzsee. The idyllic scene welcomes you upon arrival at the Gypsera bus stop. From there, the path leads always along the water, circling the lake once. The path is well prepared and offers something to observe everywhere. For those with insensitive soles, the short barefoot path at the southern end of Schwarzsee is recommended - of course, those sensitive can test their limits as well. The path can be walked in either direction.

The walk starts at the Gypsera bus stop in Schwarzsee. From the beginning, the route reveals a wonderful view over the sparkling water and the hilly Senseland. First, you pass a splendid meadow and then reach the picturesque lake path. The shore appears untouched and natural, featuring a variety of wild-growing plants.

The scenery continuously changes, as the path sometimes leads over heights, then passes calm, shady woodland areas. A special attraction is the “Schwarzsee Dragon” made of iron and sheet metal, recently created by a local artist blacksmith, majestically rising from a 20m high rock and a popular photo subject.

The path is also called the Witches’ Path. Along the way, local legends and fairy tales are shared via individual stations where visitors can actively do something or learn, turning it into a mystical adventure for children as well as for the young at heart. Rest areas can be found throughout the route, always framed by the fascinating mountain backdrop and the peaceful mountain lake. Simply worth seeing.
