Steinbock-Trek Brienzer Rothorn 1st stage
UNESCO Biosphäre Entlebuch - On the two-day ridge route "Steinbock-Trek" in Sörenberg, there are not only fantastic views but with a bit of luck also animal encounters with ibex, golden eagle, and co.
Steep rocks, rugged ridges, scree slopes, and rocky alpine pastures – in Sörenberg, the two-day "Steinbock Trek" leads through beautiful natural landscapes to the survivors of the high mountains and offers warm hospitality. After the ascent from Rossweid to Lättgässli, the spectacular ridge route leads to the summit of Brienzer Rothorn, where a 360° enchanting panorama opens up. Deep down in the valley lies the turquoise Brienzersee, and the nostalgically whistling steam train climbs the mountain from the Bern side. In the background rises the mighty, rocky chain of the snow-covered Swiss Alps. It is a panoramic view that is also omnipresent on the second day of the Steinbock Trek, which leads back to Sörenberg via Eiseesattel and Arnihaaggen. But before that, a very special experience awaits you: an evening in the cozy Berghaus Eisee. On the sun terrace, enjoy a fine dinner and the beautiful mountain world. As an overnight guest, you can wonderfully unwind here in the midst of the fascinating mountain world and gather strength for the next stage.
Anyone who loves nature will enjoy Brienzer Rothorn. A hundred years ago, the extinct ibex was reintroduced, including at Brienzer Rothorn. And the colony has developed splendidly. Because of the proximity to the Augstmatthorn hunting reserve, many ibex are observed here. But you can also see chamois, and golden eagles often spiral high into the air on the updraft.
Please observe the following behavior tips:
- Photograph and observe animals only from a safe distance
- Avoid noise, smoke, and other disturbing odors
- Never leave trash in nature; besides damaging the environment, waste can be fatal for animals
- Do not leave the marked paths
- Respect the signage
