Bird-watching Tour
Naturpark Pfyn-Finges - Bird life in the region of Leuk: Leukerfeld, High Bridge, Brentjong
The region of Leuk is one of the most abundant bird life areas in Switzerland. You reach Leukerfeld and its ponds, which constitute an old arm of the Rhone, after passing through the hedgerow landscapes of Susten and Agarn. From the observation posts you can see rare water birds (kingfishers) and from May onwards the colourful European bee-eater.
After ascending the rocky steppes you reach the High Bridge. With a bit of luck you might discover the wall creeper on the rocky cliffs of the Feschel Gorge. We pass the satellite ground station at Brentjong to reach the medieval town of Leuk.
