Moraine Lakes Route (SchweizMobil 360)
Naturpark Gantrisch - A beautiful circular route in the west of Thun offers cyclists a varied landscape. The highlight of the route is the four moraine lakes, which are a remnant of the Aletsch Glacier.
Discover over 26 kilometres the traces left behind by the Aletsch Glacier. The circular route leads from Uetendorf station through alternating agricultural areas, past the moraine lakes: Geistsee, Dittligsee, Übeschisee and Amsoldingersee. The drumlins, rounded cones, stand out markedly in the landscape, often with a tree on top. They are witnesses from the glaciated Ice Age.
In Amsoldingen the path passes by one of the oldest buildings in the canton of Bern – the Amsoldingen church. Built around the year 1000 as a Romanesque pillar basilica dedicated to Saint Mauritius. It probably already had a secular collegiate chapter attached. Around 1700, the construction of the parsonage with an adjoining barn took place.
After the visit, the path leads past the Übeschisee before returning via Thierachern to Uetendorf station.
