Schinznach: Zulauf AG

Jurapark Aargau - The Zulauf AG garden centre in Schinznach is a Jurapark partner business and much more than just a garden centre or nursery – it is a green world of experiences, offering everything from plants for sale to culinary delights and activities.

The company’s history began in 1879 with a small market garden in Schinznach-Dorf. A good 100 years later, the thriving business opened its first garden centre; this was expanded in 2003 to its current size of around 20,000 square metres of retail space and now also houses a restaurant and a bonsai centre that is unique in Switzerland.

Zulauf has always placed great emphasis on environmental sustainability. The Zulauf tree nursery was the first in Switzerland to be SwissGAP-certified. The nursery covers an area of approximately 45 hectares, on which over two million plants of a wide variety of species, varieties and sizes thrive. All the plants are watered using groundwater and surface water, which is channelled to the plants’ roots via nozzles and drip irrigation systems. Excess water is collected and returned to the nursery lake, which forms the heart of the water supply system. Since 2019, the area covered by solar panels has been continuously expanded; the solar power plant now supplies around 60 per cent of the total electricity consumption.

The garden centre offers a huge range of perennials and woody plants, as well as seasonal flowers, herbs, vegetable seedlings, and fruit and berry plants.
