Hotel Zur Sau

Parc naturel régional Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut - An idyllic and perfect place to unwind.

After two years working in a Berlin restaurant, Clà Frei returned home in 2020. The Gstaad native is now the Operations Manager at the Hotel Zur Sau in Abländschen, an unspoilt hamlet of around 40 inhabitants at the foot of the Gastlosen mountains.
Open from May to October, Zur Sau has been under the management of the Bernerhof hotel in Gstaad since 2021. A six-strong team look after guests who dine in the hotel restaurant and stay in one of the hotel's 10 rooms.
Formerly known as La Croix Blanche and built in 1850, Hotel Zur Sau works closely with producers in Abländschen. Their aim is to support the local economy as much as possible by opting for short supply chains, generate high added value and create jobs in this remote village. Given that the hotel shares the Park's values, it made sense to work with it and join its Partner Firms project.
Hotel Zur Sau was awarded the IBEX Fairstay gold label in 2022, as well as the My Climate label. It also supports the local tourism industry by promoting the region, including its produce and values, both at home and further afield.
