Parc naturel régional Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut - Since 2024, the Gruyère Pays-d’Enhaut Park offers a hiking route through the Jogne valley municipalities (Châtel-sur-Montsalvens, Crésuz, Val-de-Charmey, and Jaun), showcasing the built heritage and living traditions of the valley.
Initial situation
This project echoes an information point and a play area dedicated to the alpine pasture season, both located in Val-de-Charmey near the trail. Along the route, about sixty panels explain the built heritage and living traditions closely linked to the region’s farming activity. The two-stage trail connects Broc-Fabrique to Charmey, then Charmey to Jaun. Points of interest were chosen for their proximity to existing marked paths.
Goal
The project aims to:
- highlight the typical built heritage and living traditions of the Jogne valley;
- link the region’s rural architecture with the alpine pasture season;
- share local history through buildings, sites, and traditions;
- offer a hiking route dedicated to cultural and heritage themes.
Further information
The heritage signage includes around sixty panels. Forty-five focus on specific buildings, and thirteen on living traditions. Information is provided in the local language of each village and also available in other languages (FR, DE, EN) via a QR code linking to a website dedicated to the trail. This pilot project serves as a model for developing similar initiatives in other areas of the Park.
