In Search of Fondue – An Adventure around Lake Lessoc

Theme trail
Time required: 3 hoursLength: 6.60 km

Parc naturel régional Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut -

Open
Starting from Montbovon, this circular walk around Lake Lessoc offers a different way to discover the Intyamon Valley. Guided by an audio app, the hike combines heritage, landscapes and a quest centred around fondue.

Starting from Montbovon railway station, this circular route around Lake Lessoc invites visitors to discover the upper Intyamon Valley through its paths, landscapes and history. The trail follows the lakeshore, passes through some of the valley’s emblematic places and leads to the village of Lessoc, known for its covered bridge, church and fountain.

Designed above all as a discovery hike, the experience takes time to tell the story of the region. Along the way, an app accompanies walkers like a true audio guide and offers historical and heritage content to deepen understanding of the landscapes, local traditions, former transport routes and the close relationship between local communities and their environment.

The common thread of the adventure invites participants to step into the Belle Époque. The quest revolves around the story of Louis Zurich, a cheese merchant, and his fondue recipe passed down through generations. Challenges, stories and encounters punctuate the route and encourage a new way of observing the surrounding landscape.
